Not a Populace Movement

by Concerned Citizen (anonymous by choice)
(U.S.)

The Tea Party movement will probably do more to contribute to a nation that is already on the decline. The Republicans do not care about the welfare of the American people, only big corporate dollars. They continue to allow coporations to ship jobs overseas....and it is due to the deregulating of laws dealing with the banks and financial institutions and corporations over the years under Republican initiation and influence, that have helped to lead to the economic meltdown beginning in 2007.

My grandmother told me yrs. ago, that as far back as she could remember, that whenever Republicans were in power, that miniorities, the poor, and the weak suffer more, and its no wonder. Time has proven for as long as I have been alive, that she was right.

The current fiasco over the stoppage of unemployment extensions to those in desperate need of those funds, is disgraceful. How can any American be proud of the fact that politicians are contributing to people losing their homes, and going without food? People are not able to pay their bills, and some people due to the stoppage of their unemployment have had their utilities cut off. FYI, people on unemployment did not quit work....they were fired!!! They paid into the system, and when they lost their jobs, they applied for what they paid into to help them out.

Also due to the Republican fillibuster, many states did not recieve the much needed funding that they needed in order to keep the various state workers, fully employed. The Republican fillibuster not only held up unemployment extensions, but also the much needed funds for states to keep people working. As of July 1st, many people (state workers )had their hrs. cut back or they are being laid off!

While many Rightwingers don't appear to be going without much during this economic disaster....many Americans are losing ground. I can't help to think that other nations in the industrialized world that have existed longer than we (U.S.) have must be shaking their heads in disbelief...or even laughing at us because this nation fails miserably when it comes to solving its own socio-economic problems.

There is a list of the nations with the highest rate of unemployment in the world and the U.S. is on there. Believe it or not...no other country in the industrialized western world...appears on the list. Japan makes the list but is at the bottom.

Corporate business practices...unethical ones..and corrupt political policies, as well as other factors, have contributed to a nation that continues to decline. Republican advocacy for capitalism, at any cost...has placed America in the position of quickly becoming a neo third world nation. Republican candidates keep stressing that too much spending by the government will be the ruin of the nation, but with the rate of people that are unemployed...about as many people that were unemployed during the Great Depression...and unemployed for longer periods of time, and with businesses not hiring a steady stream of workers and no vigorous Jobs bill to stimulate the economy...the nation could slip into a double digit recession with the next stop being an economic depression. Why do you think that last Great Depression lasted so long? Because when it first happened, a Republican was in the White House...(Herbert Hoover) and he did absolutely nothing! He did not encourage spending in order to create jobs and to put money in people's pockets to spend that would go back into the economy.

It wasn't until FDR that such initiatives were created, and worked its way to helping to boost the moral of the people...and helped to rebuild this nation's infrastructure. However, Hoover's inaction allowed the Great Depression to linger much longer than it should have. He also did not believe that the government should spend its way out of an economic disaster, but low and behold, if FDR hadn't, there would be no social security, or other programs that so many people depend on to get by.

Oh yes, Social Security, SSI, medicare and medicaid were programs all initiated and signed by democrats...FDR, and LBJ.
